Leveraging Social Media Pt. 1

Video transcript:

Here I’ll show you how to leverage social media to build an online presence and engage with customers.

Step 1: Why do you need social media?

Social media serves as a way to communicate with both current and potential customers in order to respond to inquiries, problem solve, and reach a wider audience to gain more customers. It allows a platform where you can discuss product launches or new products and events in a more engaging setting where you can observe customer response. Social media can also often act as a form of free advertising for your business by using built-in tools like hashtags or joining trends. Social media also allows businesses to solidify their brand identity and bring customers into a community that will make them view the brand more positively. Social media humanizes businesses by putting a voice to the people behind the products and allowing timely engagement with customers.

Step 2: what should you post?

Posts can be anything including product launches, discounts, relevant facts, or stories about the brand. Check out our social media posting guide in the resource library for more direct guidance on what to post based on the social media platform. Included are templates of images to post for sales or other information relevant to your customers.

Step 3: promotional strategies.

  1. The way you show your business on social media matters. It’s important to establish a strong brand identity. This means making sure the brand logo, cover image, visual style, tone of voice, color scheme, bio, and fonts look the same on all platforms. This allows the business to have a presence and be memorable and recognizable for the audience. It differentiates the brand from competitors and gives followers of the brand consistency. The more relevant keywords related to the product there are in the bio, the more likely people searching for similar products are to find your page. Brand personality also helps foster loyalty in customers since the people behind the brand shine through and are able to form relationships and engage with their audience.

  2. Once your social media presence is established, making interesting content like attention-grabbing news and stories sparks curiosity in customers and allows them to engage with the brand. Using strategies to involve viewers like workshops, webinars, and polls is key to driving engagement and sparking conversations. Also make sure to answer questions quickly and regularly to make followers feel valued.
